I'm the programmer for all this software you're using on this site; I didn't write all of it (see the powered by list) but I have built most of it.
Why mu? Well, I was studying Measure Theory [wikipedia.org] when I was doing my first Linux install; I needed a userid for my personal account and I had mu (actually the Greek ยต ) on the mind.
